Summary: Jack is a student in Ms. Stretchberry's class, and he writes in a journal to log his thoughts about writing poetry. Jack thinks poetry is something only for girls. Ms. Stretchberry reads poems to the class and encourages them to create their own poem. At first Jack was very private with his poetry writing. He wanted to keep his writings anonymous. Jack was inspired by a poem from Mr. Walter Dean Myers. Jack wrote a poem that was very similar to Mr. Walter Dean Myers, and was nervous that he would offend Mr. Walter Dean Myers. His teacher suggest that Jack invite Mr. Walter Dean Myers to their school.
